“BoyLesque” is a tongue in cheek variety show, which pays tribute to early 20th century American style burlesque comedy and striptease performances, but with a twist - this revue has a distinct South African flavour. It is a fun journey through a variety of genres and styles of performance from comedy, cabaret, ballet and drag, voguing and of course, the art of strip tease. The show stars hree times Naledi award winner singer, actor, choreographer, dancer and TV personality Sibu Radebe (best known for his portrayal of the iconic character of Vusi on e TV soapie “Backstage”, as well as his many appearances in musicals like “Chicago” and “Beauty and the Beast”).

The show was conceived by cult film - maker Stanimir Stoykov ( "Doobee Boobies"). This version of the show is a collaboration between Joburg and Cape Town based performers.

“Boylesque” began its first run at the Foxwood Theatre in February 2013 and has been running in several venues like the Sandton Theatre on the Square, POPart Theatre in the Maboneng Precinct, Cantare at Monte Casino, Casta Diva in Pretoria and the Alexander Bar Upstairs Theatre in Cape Town.

There have been different versions and collaborations derived from the original production. In 2013 the Boylesque team created the "Welsome to Burlesque" show featuring new cast members Emmanuel Castis and Michael Riff Themba. This was followed by the "Late Night Varietease Show" featuring Golden Delishas. Most recently Boylesque created the successful "Late Night Boylesque Show" which featured an entirely new cast.

I really enjoyed the performance - slick, sexy and funny (esp the MC). Top quality performers - better than Burlesque - great to see the 'feather' dancer in this show.

My expectations were blown clean out of the water! The director and performers were utterly masterful in the execution of their roles and the level of talent demonstrated is simply astounding. Every aspect of the show was textbook in perfection. I sincerely wish that I had some constructive feedback but I can think of absolutely nothing that could improve what I saw. I'm often accused of not having a sense of humour but I laughed so hard I even surprised myself! It was an unbelievable night out, worth far more than the ticket price! The venue is unique and delightful and certainly my new favourite place in Cape Town. Thank you very much to all concerned. Aidan

Professional and fun. But the sound was NOT, which hugely distracted from an otherwise really polished and entertaining production.

2 There was some humerous moments, but the oferall production was very poor, not professional and certainly not a showcase for Cape Town's talent during the peak summer season. This was my sedond show I attended at Alexander, and not the last, but I won't be recommending this production to friends. Very disappointing.

I enjoyed the show. Maybe it should have been at a quicker tempo bu the stage size restricts that perhaps. The final scene with teh balloons was innovative and fun.
