Think Up: Making the Game
The video game industry is a young industry, and a rapidly evolving one. In South Africa this industry is even younger, evolving just as fast, and, arguably, largely misunderstood, even by those within it. This talk is about the massive opportunities (and equally massive challenges) this creates, as well as outlining some of the pleasures (and frustrations) inherent in developing video games in South Africa.
Evan Greenwood is the founder of the game development studio Free Lives. In 2015 Free Lives released Broforce, South Africa's most commercially successful and highly rated video game (so far). Evan's passion is first and foremost creating enjoyable interactive experiences, but he has been spotted in far flung countries like Tunisia, Germany and the United States, delivering talks about developing video games. In 2016 Evan hopes to assist in growing South Africa's young game development industry, as well as growing Free Lives' own opportunities.
