The Modern African
Presented as a lecture by a pompous intellectual, The Modern African eviscerates the absurdity of life in the shadow of colonial history. Malawian-born Maisikini has created in his Anglophile professor the perfect antidote to the quest for the modern African.

4 - Loved the play. Wish it could have been a bit longer and explored other related topics. Was funny and on point. Hope it comes again so I can take my friends who missed it
A clever concept with some funny and biting moments.
no stars. not funny. not clever
Clever, witty and hilarious!
Great show! Wickedly funny satire performed by a talented actor.
A thought-provoking performance. Sometimes difficult to hear the words though...
Great performer but the text wasn't amusing
For a first performance before a paying audience it was good. Some clever ideas and I had a number of good laughs.
Well done; had a good laugh!
really enjoyed it. This young guy will make it!
Loved it so much - Thoko has really outdone himself with this production. Pity it wasn't longer though.
Hilarious! Thoko haad me laughing for a solid hour!
Extremely funny! Really enjoyed the show
I really thought the show was terrible unfunny and lacking in real intelligent satirical humour Myself and my friends were wondering if perhaps the aim was to make it so uncomfortable that the real art was watching the racist whites laughing at the black "colonial puppets" jokes, but I don't think that irony was pulled off strong enough and I felt cheated of my R80. Specially considering how short the performance is. Shocking stuff.
