South Africa’s future is ominously uncertain and people often forget where to turn to for some salvation. The theatre is always open and will for certain refresh and restore you. Leave life for a second and be transported to a world where satire rules and rules don’t exist. Lissifir Taboo is a racy Cabaret written and performed by Lise-Marie’ Richardson teaming up with old friend, director Esther von Waltsleben. This one-woman show visits a range of ‘dangerous’ taboo themes relevant and evident in our society today - from the raunchy to the sweetly innocent. Identify a family of familiar characters as Lise-Marie’ parodies life and popular music.
Of course Zuma gets a mention and everyone else we once, might have – perhaps, for a second, looked up to at one point in our lives… and we tread on the thin grounds of transformation paving this “alien-nation”. It’s a little bit bitter; it’s a little bit sweet; it’s a little bit bittersweet, but mostly it’s a little bit funny – that feeling inside. Enjoy a night out in Cape Town with a nice glass of wine while you visit the Alexander Bar, and have a laugh at what usually has you in tears.

Well executed, except for the references to apartheid as intro did not work with the rest of the show's spiritual angle. Also the ending was very dark and heavy - did not leave the audience looking forward to a next show and left the party somewhat glum.
