Acclaimed guitarist James Grace presents his new show, Guitar Hero which recently debuted at the Stellenbosch University Wordfees. Guitar Hero pays tribute to the 20th century’s guitar icons and includes music by The Shadows, The Beatles, Eric Clapton and of course the Spanish greats. Featuring unique arrangements for solo guitar by James Grace, Guitar Hero celebrates the diversity of the modern day instrument, drawing on a variety of playing techniques from an array of genres. To a hearing-deficient person like me, there were many names and throw-away, soft-spoken lines to hear. My problem entirely! This was a seamless, smooth and interesting performance which opened new doors of my understanding of the guitar, its repertoire and range, not to mention some of James' own life story. One of the best theatre and music events of recent times. Nice touch of history thrown in. Congratulations! James mentioned a possible sequel at some time. I look forward to that.

Wonderful music by accomplished performer in relaxed and vibey setting. Lighting was a bit distracting at times. - less is more regarding lighting changes - but all the same - a wonderful night out in a great venue. Thank you!

Great event - good, intimate, up-close venue - well managed Alexander Bar, and great online ticketing. Thanks! Perhaps the only suggestion is that you (1) signpost the stairs up the venue better (the stairs are rather obscurely hidden) and (2) close off the stairs until 10 min before the show. We wandered up the stairs to have a look, and had to be told off that the venue was not yet open. Perhaps just keep the downstairs door closed or roped off or something, with some sort of notice about when it will be open?
