“Sometimes, I feel sexy in a slinky dress and lipstick. Sometimes, I feel handsome in a button down and tie. Sometimes, I wear ties with skirts, corsets and cufflinks. I am a gender-bender, and I can bend gender norms to fit my conception of who I am!” – Anonymous

Black Orchid Burlesque proudly brings you a fusion of Boylesque and Drag King acts; speckled with just a hint of Burlesque, Cabaret & Drag Queen performances.  Join us as we celebrate the mysterious inherent beauty of fluid sexual identities by paying homage to the LEGENDS that brought Gender Bending to a public light. By pushing the envelope of gender conformity, fashion and human spectacle through expression of elaborate, glamorous and often satirical performance art forms, our performers play on topics that are often considered taboo by general social standards.
In a world full of stars and up-and-comers, when all it takes is a viral video to rocket you from your bedroom wanna-be to stadium demi-god. It’s easy to forget about the people who made it big before the age of Youtube and instant communication. This is the first themed Gender Bender show, with acts inspired by nothing but the LEGENDS of yester-year and modern days! We have spared no effort in paying tribute to iconic game changers like Prince, David Bowie, Elvis Presley and many more. While the show might be a little to topsy turvy for some, we promise you a journey like no other …. You better believe it!

Our line-up for this show is bursting with star power from a sensational cast, creating new acts just for the occasion.

Audience Responses

I was really disappointed by this show. The show was very messy and childlike. It was not rounded off well and still needs a lot of work. It felt like the cast only practiced two days before the time and then went on stage.

Zero stars. To whom it may concern, I went with a friend on 9/7 to see the show and we were looking very forward to it, especially after having seen Love Me Tinder and enjoying the vibe Alexander Bar. However, we felt highly disappointed and somewhat insulted. The performers were embarrassing to watch and had, in our opinion, very little talent, stage presence and acting ability. We feel that having to pay for "show" of that standard was a total ripoff and a waste of our time. Thank you for asking for our feedback.
