Gary is a personable and very talented musician that the audience can appreciate at an intimate venue like Alexander Bar.

Fantastic show - but way too short! Gary Thomas is brilliant, love the fact that we received CDs with the gig. Room upstairs was getting very warm though... ventilation will help! Thanks Alexander Bar!

Experiencing Gary Thomas live was an absolute treat. He has everything that makes a master - impressive technical skill, unique and intriguing composition filled with subtle nuances and such rich diversity, personalised setup of his gear to create and enhance the atmosphere he chose to share with us and a charming stage presence and demeanour. The intimate venue was the perfect place to fully experience the show. Gary has to be one of the best guitarists to come out of South Africa and last night was one of the best live guitar gigs I have ever been to.
I'd love to tell you we enjoyed last night's performance but in truth we could not get to the venue despite trying for forty frustrating minutes going round in circles on Strand Street and finally having to give up. This because all the roads were blocked off and no obvious way round it. The police could not have been less helpful. I called the Alexander Bar last night at 20.10 and a gentleman there suggested it might be possible somehow to swap last night's tickets for another evening. If that were possible we would appreciate it because we were looking forward to an evening out having enjoyed one of your shows before. Regards Norman Phillips

This was the second time I've been to his show and I certainly was not disappointed. My friend and I fell in love with his music and style of play at the first concert. And we'll surely be back again in the future!

this man is an anti-folk virtuoso. Such post-modern music. Also, grateful that he would share his digital albums with the audience.
Excellent performance, and a beautiful setting. Gary Thomas was flawless as always, and the sound quality was excellent. It was my first time at Alexander Bar but definitely not my last. The intimate setting made the whole experience so much better.
I loved it but I am giving two stars just because the sound was too loud, so that at times it was basically impossible to hear the chords.
Music was a little loud for such a small venue but he's a very charming performer!
