Born in Johannesburg with roots in the Eastern Cape, Deslynn Malotana is a Cape Town girl by heart. A singer, songwriter and performer, she’s a lover of the arts in the purist form. Deslynn accredits her musical passion to the influence of her father, the late Desmond Malotana, founder, bandleader and keyboardist for well-known 80’s band, “Brenda and the Big Dudes”. Steadily coming into her own, she invites you to share her journey in an intimate one-night performance. Backed by Cape Town veterans, Blackcurrant, Deslynn will present her unique brand of urban soul, an amalgamated delight blending RnB, jazz and uplifting soul.

The show came alive with Deslynn's fun on stage presence. She was interactive and had great original covers as well as very soothing original music. I would definitely recommend her to others as well as the venue.

Lovely personality and lots of potential , think she needs some-professional help with voice training , the pianist was great , others okay . At least this gig brought a different audience to the AB , be great to have a more diverse audience , more gigs like this that can attract different crowds.

She was amazing. Blackcurrant were amazing. Sounded so much better live. Fantastic show. Next time you have a live performance, have the band have CDs or information of where people can buy their music... Would have really liked to own this music. The venue itself was great, small and intimate -- perfect for such a performance.
