You Bet Your Life!
Poor Jonny? BANG! Recently deceased Jonny finds himself in limbo… his own game show where scenes from his life are replayed with purgatorial relish. Has Jonny been a good boy? Not from the looks of things…
“A funny story about an ‘80’s TV reality game show in purgatory. Great original songs performed by three hugely talented actors.” Steven Lang, Cue 2014 YOU BET YOUR LIFE! may seem like a typical TV game show – but it’s one with a bite! Hosted by the devilishly charming Timothy Radcliffe, the show welcomes a special guest whose heart and soul are on the line, due to the little fact that they have just cashed in their chips! So when the recently deceased Jonny arrives on set, the audience is introduced to his neurotic mother, his crazy ex-girlfriends, a ferocious Russian drag performer and a host of other characters who all seem bent on keeping Jonny in limbo as Timothy tries to manipulate things to secure his own redemption. Will Jonny be able to save his soul? Or will be stuck in afterlife TV reruns forever and ever? Only a trip to YOU BET YOUR LIFE! can answer these questions!
YOU BET YOUR LIFE! is the first collaboration by Roland Perold and David Fick both of whom have written two musicals before deciding to work together on this project. Having had a fantastic run in Grahamstown in 2014 the team is excited for the Cape Town premiere to be hosted at Alexander Bar.

Absolutely brilliant!!!
I will not enter into a lengthy diatribe, just to say the wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the show, most entertaining!!
Hilarious, brilliant and overall an enjoyable night out! Beautiful voices, beautiful people, well done!
Loved it! Amy Trout really was brilliant! Great performances all round - loved the Amsterdam drag clip too. The Theatre is intimate and well suited the show. Looking forward to revisiting...
Brilliant show!
Great show and loved the venue - just a pity you have 5 and 5 so it is difficult to sit next to someone you come with - we went ot ask if we could stand in a qeue so that we could sit together and they said they would call us. I suggest you get them to allocate seats as you arrive and announce your arrival so we can sit together. I don't enjoy going to the theatre with someone and hten having to sit apart. The show was great though.
Entertaining, clever, very well performed, some good numbers.
no comment. next question?
Really enjoyable
Best show so far!
Loved every minute.
Quirky! Never lost interest in the storyline.
this was different from what I expect from Alexander Bar but it was great and all that I discussed it with were positive. This was GREAT!!
Quite a challenging show to pull off in such a small space. Found it to be quite cheesy. Quality of acting/singing was acceptable (based on Grahamstown Festival experiences). Our first time at the theatre at Alexander Bar so looking forward to coming again!
Brilliant musical! Each scene nicely. Talented cast, would love to see more of the drag act. Very catchy tunes, can't get them out of my head!
Inventive & great fun!
Really enjoyed the show and love your little theatre.
Awesome!
The clincher would've been another twist in the tale, maybe hearing from Carin? But all in all a super performance from the actors
Loved the show
Excellent entertainment. Funny, engaging and thought-provoking show. Great, versatile cast- very convincing. Will be back.
I loved it - had a great evening, laughed a lot and had some food for thought too. Roland was brilliant on the piano.

We greatly enjoyed the show -- full of enthusiasm, pace, humour and great music. The stage is quite restricting for 3 actors, particularly in the choreographed scenes, but a marvellous venue for an intimate production such as this which benefited from audience participation. Our congratulations to Rolland for creating this high-energy musical and his talented cast.
Fabulous voices dancing and music
Its was a great show! The actors were on point especially Amy Trout who changed character about a hundred times, amazing!!! Well done guys!!!
