Violet Online
Violet, who certainly isn’t a shrinking one, makes it so. Recently divorced, she barges into the world of cyber dating, Scrabble sex (you heard it here first), a midlife Brazilian wax discovery, crossing the colour barrier, struggles with clothes, and smouldering real time sex with virtual strangers. Violet lives and learns, dispenses advice and confesses all in a delightfully unselfconscious way.
Gorgeous Cape Town Actress Lynita Crofford comes back to The Alexander stage as Violet. Violet is modern, sexy, funny and confident. And, quite simply, she is looking for love. Or sex. Or love and sex. And she does it all in her own tongue in his cheek way.
Violet Online is based on blog posts by a well known, anonymous, over 40, mother, ex wife, grammar fiend. Megan Furniss directs. After a sold-out run here last year, and another at The Kalk Bay Theatre Violet Online comes back to The Alexander with a quick run before heading off to the NAF. If you have managed to miss her, now is the time to catch her, or for those of you who fell in love with her, you get to see her again.

A funny and very relevant show to those over 40 single girls. Laughed a lot and loved every minute. Lynita is a real star!
Good, but no real punch line. Perhaps a lack of depth1
Very entertaining, very true, very honest, brilliant performed, highly recommended!
Show was absolutely fantastic! Chairs could be more comfortable.
Really enjoyed this feel good show. Violet was natural, relaxed and played her role well, we could really relate to her. When the show ended, we were left thinking...gee, we could have watched that for a while longer (although the show was long enough). Well done to the actress.
Always interesting topic - like Defence of the Caveman - well delivered and easy to empathise with. Enjoyed the experience - and the great vibe at the bar downstairs. Thanks & Kind Regards, David
Hi, This was one of the best one-person shows I have seen in a long time. Lynita is a star and her character Violet was even more so. Thanks, Paulos
Awesome show. Its amazing that it is a one man show. It is very relevant. Looking forward to reviewing it on our blog. www.rinsebeforeuse.wordpress.com :)
Thoroughly enjoyable, witty without being too outragious.
4 out of 5. Entertaining and fun.
We hadn't been to the Alexander Bar before. What a treat – a lovely intimate place for a nightcap. And the play itself is a real gem. A great pick-me-up after a tough week. The staff are really friendly too.
My 40-something year old colleague and 50-something year old I took our daughters to watch the show last night and we laughed more than the young ones...because we related to Violet's stories of course! Ms Crofford owned the role of Violet, she was a great mirror image for us, hilarious narrative...thank you for the wonderful entertainment!
I really enjoyed the show and well done to Violet for her courage and saying it like it is! The only obstacle is the parking and walking as a woman in the city centre at night is not a pleasant experience. Both my friend and I were accosted by some vagrant which was very scary whilst we were trying to get to our car! We felt incredibly vulnerable and we both were rather traumatised by the whole incident. How fortunate we were that nothing sinister transpired, but I do now have reservations about attending another show.
Entertaining. A wonderful evening with a talented actress..
Violet Online is hilarious! But it is not silly. It is a very funny account by a highly intelligent, self-aware but never self-pitying woman, performed with immense charm by Lynita and very cleverly staged by Megan. It is perfect for the venue and ideal for anyone who needs to relax, enjoy an evening out and go home feeling better. Well done.
Lynita Crafford was absolutely amazing. LOVED the show. Would like all my friends to see it!
Fabulous show! So much fun, wonderful writing, and a really sassy performance by the lovely Lynita. Together with Megan's careful direction, they have made something sexy, cheeky, and a little bit naughty. Congratulations!
We thoroughly enjoyed the show. Probably because we could, somewhat, relate and it was totally honest.
JUST FABULOUS!!!! Script, Acting, Direction, Music, Graphics - all brilliant!
We really enjoyed the show.
Hilarious
Loved it! Was great to see Lynita in action, what an entertaining show!
Such a delicious confection!
Well performed, well directed, well worth a visit!
Loved the show! Lynita captured what so many of us have been through, after divorce and single ihn a challenging world out there. Funny and poignant. Thnx
Elizabeth and I saw "Violet Online" at the Alexander Upstairs and enjoyed it thoroughly. What a lovely show! Thumbs up to Lynita Crofford - Violet is hysterically funny! Well done director Megan Furniss, who steered the production in style. It's an absolute treat!! Elizabeth and Rudy Nadler-Nir
Great show, great venue. So glad I went. Could really relate to Violet's miss(mrs)adventures.

Sadly couldn't make it... as per my phone message.
entertaining play, good actress, nice venue
A fabulous entertaining winters night out! From the bar service, to hearing the quiz questions while waiting for the theatre to open, we were pleasantly surprised by the casual friendliness of it all. The play was delightful, something every man and woman can probably relate to. A perfect introduction to live theatre , i shall definitley return, and convince my friends to join me .
Fantastic, Lynita was amazing
5 For sure
Actress was so real. Loved watching her! Felt script could have been refined but all in all very entertaining.
Excellent content and acting
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Simple but powerful format and was both funny and tender.
I thought it was cringingly bad
Fun, Frivolous, and FABULOUS!
Loved it!
Actress was so real. Loved watching her! Felt script could have been refined but all in all very entertaining.
Hilarious. A wonderful night out with the girls!
I watched it twice! Loved it, its so real, reminded me of when i was still single living in the city. I'm so glad that i never have to go on another first date ever again!
4 out of 5 LOVED it -marike
boring....average script, would have been better for stand uo comic...cant win them all
I LOVED the show and haven't had such a good belly laugh for months, not to mention other (unmentionable) body parts which rocked and rolled with the wholesome guffaws! The total experience was just what I needed! An excellent dose of spicy raunchiness unwrapped from the slick and brilliant script! Very sophisticated acting too! Those slides were just precious! Any chance of a copy of them!! I was laughing too much to remember those classic quotes!!
Excellent show!!
It was brilliant! Well done Lynita and Megan.
Great, well done !!..'really enjoyed the show.
It was exactly what I expected, given the subject-matter. Well done, but an insignificant work. The subject is embarrassingly personal and vulgar. But the script had some amusing moments. Lynita has the appearance and personality to carry it off. The youth of the audience last night indicates type of person the subject might appeal to.
It was really great ,merci for a splendid evening once again! Always a fab experience! Just as an observation.......the young barman was handling drinks ,fruit ,ice, simultaneously, behind the bar, with his unwashed hands, not at all hygienic, we thought......not meant as a criticism but we think it's important and that you should know. Thanks!
5 Stars Excellent show. Loved every minute of it. Laughed alot!!
Good, but no real punch line. Perhaps a lack of depth1
Pleasant show. Some of the writing is a bit repetitive. Will appeal more to a female audience.
