The Van der Walt Quintet is a group of young musicians who have come together over the past 6 months to play the music of performer/composer Daniel van der Walt. With their incredible talent behind him, Daniel has been able to push the boundaries of technical complexity while maintaining the emotional integrity of each narrative giving a familiar but interesting touch to the music played by the band.

Daniel van der Walt is a young singer from Cape Town, with the smooth tone and excellent musicality reminiscent of Harry Connick Jr and Chet Baker. He recently graduated from UCT, where he had the privilege of being taught by some of South Africa’s finest musicians, including Monique Hellenberg, Amanda Tiffin, and Nicky Schrire. During his first year of studies at UCT, Daniel was selected for the UCT Jazz Voices (Jazz Vocal Ensemble), who won the 1st Jazz Prize at the Stellenbosch Ensemble Competition in 2016. During his third year of Studies, Daniel was selected for the Artscape Youth program and was selected for the 2017 Standard Bank Youth Jazz Band. During his 4th year of Studies, Daniel was selected for the 2018 Standard Bank Youth Jazz Band and Toured Johannesburg and Durban with 'The New Age Offering'

He is currently lead vocalist and director of his own band, 'The Van der Walt Quartet' which performs original music; vocalist with fusion-jazz 'The New Age Offering'; and vocalist with the Standard Bank Youth Jazz Band of 2018.
