I always review shows we have seen and there have been many over the last year or two. In every case we have thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment which has ranged from good to very good. Unfortunately, for the first time, I have to rate the Boudoir Blues as abysmal! In fact, my wife and I were grateful for the announcement of an intermission after only 35 minutes and we fled. The one star I rated was to acknowledge that the musicians did possess a modicum of talent but the girls, oh dear, the girls! In the first place, casting one of the four to be a surreptitious stage clearer was clumsy. As for the other three, not wishing to be too unkind, I would suggest that a few dancing, singing and acting lessons would not go amiss. As a whole, the piece was disjointed and had no real thread to hold it all together, even the main protagonist was seen to be fumbling for a script or note of what to follow. I guess at the end of the day, you cannot win them all and you are bound to pick up some losers amongst all the winners. We will remain true and faithful Alexander fans and will be back very soon.
