Pieter-Dirk Uys started his career of one-man shows with Adapt or Dye in 1981. Now thirty-five years later adapting is still a necessity, while flying is a choice. This a one-man show in which the master of political satire sends up political figures of the past and present. He will take you on a familiar long walk to freedom, through the various chapters of National Party rule with impersonations of DF Malan, JG Strydom, HF Verwoerd, BJ Vorster, PW Botha and FW de Klerk, and into the familiar terrain of amandla-politics with tributes to Nelson Mandela, and through Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Motlanthe into the reign of Jacob Zuma.
Uys may be years older than when he opened ‘Adapt or Dye’, but his material is as fresh today as it was then. The players may have changed, but the game has not. – City Press
Uys still has us rolling on the floor after 35 years. There’s enough to keep you laughing at (his) unique brand of satire, to keep you moved, hooked and, at times, in awe too.

So banish the blues – come and enjoy the blacks, whites, browns, yellows and ‘others’ that make up this unique country of our dreams. As long as we can laugh at our fear, we are still in charge of our future.

Brilliant in every respect. Feel priviledged to see PDU in the intimacy of the Alexander Bar.

A magnificent show. Pieter Dirk Uys is still one of the best political satirists worldwide.
a wonderful one-man-show!
Amazing look back at parallel lives (find oneself asking " where was I at THAT time??)
Great interaction and really nice to see PDU again!!
Pity it wasn't longer with more characters, but always brilliant.

Tremendous. Masterful. Sensitive. Glorious. I'd never have imagined a retrospective of South Africa's heads of state of the past 70 years could be so entertaining, and ultimately so very optimistic. Of course, Uys pulled it off like the world-class performer he is. More!
I liked the intimacy of your theatre very much and the show itself was terrific!
